STRIKE/POSE (coming soon)
A downloadable game
Overview
STRIKE/POSE is an upcoming fantasy tabletop action figure skirmish game by Daniel Kwan and Angus Macpherson where players battle fantasy combatants made using customizable model kits.
Built for tabletop gamers and fans of customizable model kits who've always wanted a reason to actually play with them, STRIKE/POSE puts physical posing at the heart of every tactical decision. Teams of models clash in arena-based skirmishes where gameplay involves expressively posing models to directly affect what they can do! Adopt an aggressive pose to unleash a devastating strike. Lock into a defensive pose to weather the storm. What you see on the table is exactly what you get!
Core Design & Gameplay Principles
“Playing with your toys” - encouraging model builders, war gamers, and toy enthusiasts to not only build model kits, but also play with them!
What you see is what you get (WYSIWYG) - the physical appearance of the models used by players should reflect their in-game capabilities. This reduces cognitive load by allowing players to quickly identify a model’s capabilities, encourages fair play, and creates a more immersive tabletop!
Small model count, but high customization - relatively low cost of entry. Customizable heroes make for high replayability and potential for campaign play.
Dynamic, mutable posing with mechanical implications - players can pose their models to reflect their intent. Physically posing models also provides players with real-time visibility of strategic intent.
Push-your-luck activation - players can choose between a fixed action on their turn or rolling a small pool of dice to generate extra actions. Failure states end a player’s/team’s activation early, shifting the turn to the opposing player/team. Tactical, easy to learn, and fast to play - players can learn the fundamentals of the game very quickly. Games are fast to play, but involve tactical depth. Rules are relatively simple.
